Pujo was synonymous with Didun’s bari. She tried to remember each year in separate red envelopes. These cloth cases were saved in the corners of her mind. But however much she tried, the happy red bled into other psychological recesses. Thank god it did! Pujo at Didun’s house was a melting pot of endearing snippets. The arrival was marked with toys — toys her grandmother made with clay. The house smelt of condensed milk, jaggery, grated coconut and incense. More prominently, it had this sheen of celebration. It used to be readied for Maa Durga and — for a daughter coming back home with her children. The house was also in constant chaos; it was always preparing for the next thing. This tension usually shot up in the morning hours when her mother, grandmother and aunties slipped into their Anjali looks. Whatever they wore, they looked dreamy.
She wondered if the occasion they dressed up for play a trick. Because Anjoli, the chanting and coming together in prayers, always brought out her sincerest sentiments.

She capered through the crowded marketplace in Banaras and soon, found herself at her father’s shop. She dusted her feet before stepping on the pristine white sheet that covered the shop from end to end. Once inside, she scurried into a corner behind the tinted glass. From here, she observed her father’s kingdom, while obscuring herself. On this day, like every other, there was a family outside — they were being attended to by her father and his associates. She wistfully pulled out her sketchbook and fell into a trance. She drew flowers from the lands she dreamed of visiting and those she saw every morning.
Find your way back to inspiration in our cream and blue Aasmani Parinda katan Banarasi silk saree. The weave wrought with fascinating Kadwa technique spotlights each individually woven motif on the pallu.
Rooted in the textile traditions of the ancient city of Varanasi, Banarasi sarees are among the finest sarees in India. They are known for their rich gold and silver brocade or zari, fine silk and opulent embroidery. The saris are made of finely woven silk and decorated with intricate designs.
This Suta saree is made of handloom silk, in the exquisite kadhwa weave. The zari used in this saree is quality tested. It takes our master weavers roughly two weeks to create a single saree. What makes these sarees extra luxurious is that 1.5 times more silk is used in the warp. They feature Suta’s proprietary moth-inspired floral motif, which makes them stand apart from traditional Banarasi weaves that feature predominantly floral and foliate patterns.
