Story

Unlike his peers, he didn’t describe himself as a chef. He called himself a storyteller, whose medium was food. He believed that each ingredient told a story – it had a history as unique as its flavour profile, and his job was to somehow marry the two in the way only he could. He’d recently rediscovered the humble anjeer – a fruit cultivated since ancient times, it was sweet with a delightful crunch and texture. In fact, the numerous seeds in the fruit reminded him of the fruit’s numerous possibilities. It could be eaten ripe or dry, mixed with sugar to make an exquisite jam, or slow-cooked into a barfi. He decided the only way he could truly do justice to the anjeer was to dedicate his Diwali menu to it. And he knew that this would be a feast worth remembering.
