Handloom cotton is handwoven by our weavers on mechanical looms. The process is time and labour-intensive, using techniques that have been passed down across generations of artisans. The resultant fabric is extraordinarily soft, breathable and resilient, and also drapes very well. Using handloom cotton not only helps us to work with smaller weavers but also plays an important role in reducing the environmental footprint of the garments we produce.

Dear Diary,
Today, I discovered Instagram! Yes, this day’s been a long time coming or maybe it shouldn’t have come at all. But I got the app on the phone and I think I’ve found a new hobby! I’ve spent a few hours putting up pictures I took around Mumbai, and the more I look at my page (or my grid, as I’ve been told it’s called), it looks and feels like the perfect collage of my life, as it is. It’s amazing how my most precious memories fit perfectly into the square format of this app and that it lets me share these memories with my friends, back home. It reminds me of how far I’ve come and how far I’ve yet to go. I’ve decided to think of my life in quite the same way that Instagram views me - as a compilation of special memories, special places and special people. And that’s how I know that although some days feel especially difficult, the journey here has been more than worthwhile.
Cherish every memory, when you wear this stunning purple dress made of cotton.

My heart is heavy. I can’t believe I’ve writing this but it’s time to move on and the mere thought of it is tearing me into two. When I moved to Mumbai two years ago, I didn’t realise how quickly and yet how slowly my time here would pass. How easily I’d meet people and how hard it would be to make friends. But also how easy it would be to nurture these friendships because we had so much in common. I didn’t realise that I’d grow to love the vada pav, the bhel puri, the pav bhaji, the long walks along Juhu beach, the stuck-in-time charm of Old Bombay, the fluttering and cooing of pigeons above my windowsill, the smell of the sea each time I approached it, the camaraderie that binds this city together and makes its many parts one until, disjointed whole. I didn’t realise that when it was time to leave, I would be leaving behind a piece of my heart in Bombay. But the road ahead seems exciting and full of opportunities. I must look forward and not behind. But I will look back one last time, with a heart filled with gratitude and love. For the person that I am would not be without a piece of Bombay in her. And the person I will be will always have a piece of Bombay within her.
No matter where you go, let this multi-coloured cotton dress be the font of your fondest memories and help you create new ones as well!
The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in West Bengal as mul mul, the fabric is buttery soft and delicately beautiful. The weave of this fabric is very fine, and this lends a very fluid texture to it that makes draping it a breeze. It is truly like a hug that wraps you in its love!

“Must you always carry that big old notebook everywhere? All it does is add all this unnecessary weight. Surely your tablet will suffice?” her mother grumbled.
She pretended not to hear but pushed her notebook even deeper into her duffle bag. Her mother was right. She had been carting the notebook around for nearly four years now. It was a graduation gift from her English professor, who’d fervently urged her to never stop writing. But now, the still-bare pages had begun to yellow.
Hidden away in her hotel room, facing a window that looked out on a horizon so wide and so blue, it felt she would never find her way back again, she squeezed the notebook slightly between her feverish palms. The ink flowed freely and words became sentences, and sentences filled pages. In that tiny hotel room, several thousand miles away from home, she was conquering imaginary dragons in the castles of her mind. This was the beginning she’d always hoped for. And it would lead her to glorious ends.
